Meet The SWS Team
Shannon Turek
Owner, Fitness Instructor & Personal Trainer
My fitness journey started when my son was born, 8 years ago. I was active up until the day I went into labor. I knew my fitness routine would look different from that of a FT working person to that of a SAHM mom with a new baby. I became certified as a fitness instructor and taught classes where moms were able to bring their littles ones. In a very short period of time it became my passion that moms realized that their kids were the reason, not the excuse.
In 2016, I became certified as a personal trainer. I started training at the community center where I was already teaching. Enter 2020 and a world-wide pandemic. I realized the world was going in a virtual direction and I wanted to be part of it. I started offering virtual training in June of 2020 and in-person training in January of 2021.
Summer of 2021, a beautiful boutique-style studio landed in my lap & I haven't looked back. Four years, thousands of group fitness classes & hundreds of clients later - my passion to help busy men & women find sustainable fitness & nutrition is stronger than ever!

Ruth Van Sloun
Personal Trainer
At 53, I decided my story wasn’t over - it was just beginning.
After losing over 100 pounds while navigating menopause, I discovered something powerful: our bodies are capable of incredible change at any age.
Through strength training, nutrition & consistency, I rebuilt myself - not just physically, but mentally.
That journey led me to become a Certified Personal Trainer, Nutrition Coach & figure competitor.
Now my passion is helping other women realize they are not “too old”, “too far gone” or past their prime.
You don’t have to chase perfection. You don’t have to be a bodybuilder. You just need the right plan, the right support & the belief that you’re worth investing in.
Your strongest chapter can still be ahead.
Lindsay Hackman
Personal Trainer
Hello, I am Lindsay. I have a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Health from Iowa State University and am an ACE certified personal trainer since 2009. Early on, I often felt defined as being a cheerleader, however it was being a student athlete that developed my passion for fitness.
I began my career in health and wellness working for a Fortune 500 company teaching small and large group fitness exercise classes as well as providing personal training. From there I worked as a personal trainer for a boutique style personal training studio. In 2017, when that door closed (literally and figuratively) I saw that as an opportunity to pursue a different career in education and as an independent contractor offering personal training in-home to area clients.
Currently, with a K-6 Elementary Teaching License from Augsburg University, I teach the youngest learners in ISD 110. Now, partnering with Shannon Turek, I am extending my personal training services to our local community for all ages and skill levels.
I believe my background and experience as a student athlete, personal trainer, and educator is the perfect combination to help you meet your goals.
